Minimum wage is increasing on 1 April. Are you ready?
As a business owner or manager, you need to be ready for the minimum wage rates increase from 1 April 2024.
The details of the increase are:
Adult minimum wage will go up from $22.70 to $23.15 per hour.
Starting-out and training minimum wage will go up from $18.16 to $18.52 per hour.
All rates are before tax and any lawful deductions, for example, PAYE tax, student loan repayment, child support.
If you have not yet talked to your accountant, payroll provider or your finance/HR teams now is the time. It is also an opportunity to check your employment records, processes and systems are current.

Media Release – Tertiary Scholarship available for Horowhenua Student – 11 August 2023
A Horowhenua tertiary student will receive $1,000 towards study fees and a unique paid working experience as part of a Tertiary Scholarship being reintroduced at Horowhenua District Council.
Applications for the 2024 study year are open now and close on Friday 22 September 2023.
The scholarship will provide financial support to the recipient, and an opportunity to gain work experience at Horowhenua District Council during the 2023-2024 summer months.
